ABOUT ABOUT

**This is intended to be a safe space for Black/ Afro-Latinx and descendants of Africans**

Calling local Black Artists from all creative backgrounds. I have curated a space for us to come together and have critical conversations around what it means to be a Black Artist; how to create works without re-introducing ourselves to trauma and ways to revitalize our spirits once the works are produced. The day will include activites that build stronger bonds and a well-connected community, as well as a guided meditation by a local healer.

There will be a light breakfast and food served for lunch. I hope you can all join me.

About Me:

Hey my name is Isaac Bloodworth! I was born and raised in New Haven and I'm a graduate of the University of Connecticut's Puppet Arts program. During my senior project I produced a performance piece about black children and police brutality called Metamorphosis. While developing the performance and doing extensive research I started to fall into a depressive and unmotivated hole. I was consuming so many videos of Black folks and children being murdered and abused it took an unexpected toll. I am also aware of other Black Artists who have endured the same unfortunate hurdles. So for me there has to be a better way to support ourselves whilst doing the work.
